Hand in Hand for Development (HIHD) is a Rwandan non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the social and economic wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalized people, while protecting and advocating for their fundamental rights.
About Hand in Hand for Development
Founded in 2012 by a group of compassionate citizens, HIHD emerged from the deep concern over the hardship and instability faced by many Rwandans—particularly orphans, widows, people living with albinism, and young women heading households. These challenges were rooted in the difficult historical periods the country endured before and after colonization, leaving behind widespread unemployment and social exclusion.
Today, HIHD works to empower individuals and communities to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. We focus on vocational training, education, human rights awareness, peacebuilding, and innovation in job creation helping people gain the tools and confidence to shape a better future.
At HIHD, we believe that lasting change begins when people are given both opportunity and support. Together with our partners, we strive to build a Rwanda where every person regardless of background or ability can thrive, contribute, and live with equal value.
